It’s been a tough hurricane season in many parts of the world, as you all know. And as the devastation spread through the Caribbean islands, Florida, and Texas, it became clear that there couldn’t possibly be enough aid or assistance to these hard-hit areas. So much of the areas in need of help are places that are an integral part of our boating community. So when Bristol Marine, J Goodison Company and Newport Shipyard announced their plan to coordinate a container to fill with donations and supplies for hurricane relief, Jamestown Distributors was more than happy to get involved.
The 40-foot container was donated by J Goodison and lots of marine companies got involved to pack it full of supplies and rebuilding needs. Cay Electronics sent generators and money from fundraising, Bristol Marine collected personal care items from CVS as well as other needed supplies and Newport Shipyard held a regatta which collected funds to donate to the islands. Jamestown Distributors sent TotalBoat Epoxy, Thixo, Gelcoat, fiberglass supplies, roofing nails, paint sundries and lots more- all with the intention of helping get the boats in the area up and running again to help with tourism, transportation and of course, rebuilding of structures, docks and beyond!
We wanted to let you know that as customers, your support of our company helps us to support others. And other than helping you find the best products and customer support, we are proud to prioritize helping others in our tightly-knit boating community. The container was just loaded up – filled to the doors with donations, and it’s bound for the Caribbean. The still-struggling island of Barbuda is certain to see some of these supplies which are so badly needed on their completely ravaged island. With the holidays around the corner, it feels like the right time to look around your own world and see if you can’t give a little extra this year to those who really need it.
