We are back with the final episode of Sailing Zephyr’s sailboat countertop makeover. Nat and James traveled to TotalBoat headquarters in Bristol, RI to epoxy the countertops they made for their 2010 Beneteau Oceanis 43. Using TableTop Epoxy, they created a beautiful resin wave scene bringing the ocean inside their boat!
If you missed the first part of this project in last week’s featured video, you can watch the video here! This sailing duo traded in their office jobs to a life of cruising the world on their sailboat. The boat work has begun while Zephyr is on the hard before setting sail on their next adventure. They built brand new countertops, loaded them in the car and traveled to visit us here at TotalBoat! With the help of our social and creative teams, Nat and James began to finish the countertops with our TableTop Epoxy. After practicing different techniques and styles, Nat decided to go ahead with completing the countertops with a resin ocean effect.
In last week’s video, they sealed the wood with our High Performance Epoxy before beginning the ocean pour. Now that the seal coat is dry, it was Nat’s time to shine. She is using TableTop Epoxy and tinted it to different shades of blue and green with our Pigment Dispersions and Black Diamond Mica Powder Pigments. Once the colors are all mixed in their separate mixing cups, we get to enjoy the satisfying views of Nat pouring the epoxy in the different colored layers.
Now that the layers are poured, Nat uses a heat gun to spread the white tinted epoxy over the green and blues to create cells that represent ocean foam as the waves come together beautifully! The cells and depth Nat created in her resin ocean are gorgeous and eye-catching! She truly captured the realistic look of the ocean waves on their brand new countertops. Nat even says they turned out exactly how she envisioned them too!
Be sure to like the video and watch until the end to see the countertops installed in their new forever home, Zephyr. Nat and James really brought the ocean INSIDE of their sailboat, and we couldn’t be happier for them! Tell them what you think of their new countertops below, and subscribe to their channel to keep up to date on their fun adventures, boat work, and the amazing sights from the places they visit. Thanks for watching!
