Designing and Planning Epoxy Marble Countertops for a Sailboat – Part 1

We had a blast and learned a ton, too when Jade and Brett Evans of the YouTube Channel Expedition Evans came into our Narwhal Labs maker space at TotalBoat HQ. They had a mission – to remake and upgrade the galley countertops on their salvaged 2008 Beneteau 49. The boat has been extensively rehabbed bit by bit, and when they reached out to inquire about getting some help from our team here on their beat-up counters, we extended the invite to come and use our amazing Avid CNC and all the tools and TotalBoat epoxy they needed.

We even invited Dingo and Penny, the Evans pooches. We used lots of tooling and TotalBoat and had never made countertops with fiddles before, but with some engineering, some help from Jeff in the lab, and plenty of Thixo, Brett and Jade were able to construct the countertops that will next get flooded with primer and then white MakerPoxy epoxy to modernize and clean up their liveaboard home. Check out part 1 of this amazing transformation in today’s video of the week.
