Tula’s Endless Summer Trawler Transformation

Billy and Sierra of YouTube Channel, Tula’s Endless Summer, purchased a 1978 43’ DeFever Trawler project boat for $100 and have been transforming her into a comfortable live aboard yacht.  In today’s Video of the Week, they bring the stairs, bow pulpit, doors and handrails back to life with our Danish Teak Sealer!

Billy, Sierra, and their fur baby Jetty are YouTube Sailors and boat renovators who have sailed up and down the east coast, all of the Bahamas and through the Caribbean. They have been documenting their adventures in hopes to inspire, educate and entertain their followers along the way.  While they are currently waiting on the build and delivery of their brand new Seawind 1160 Catamaran, Billy and Sierra continue to buy boats that need a lot of work, and fix them up themselves.

Their latest project is a huge refit of their 43’ Trawler, which they have been pouring their heart and souls into for the past 7 months.  It needed a ton of work, but for $100 and a working engine, they were ready to tackle this renovation! In this week’s episode, Billy begins to remove the old silicone caulk from the windows, while Sierra starts finishing the stairs, bow pulpit, doors and handrails.  They started with the stairs to get an idea of what the color and finish would look like.  Sierra applies two coats of our Danish Teak Sealer.  This was the perfect choice for this refit because of the ease of application and less coats required.  Once the stairs were finished, Billy glued the bow pulpit down using our Thixo Thickened Epoxy, and Sierra continued with the Teak Sealer.   The rest of the video shows Sierra sanding the handrails and finishing them off by brushing the sealer on with a foam brush. This part of the transformation is rewarding and satisfying as you see the natural beauty of the wood pop.  Once this refit is complete, you will never be able to tell this was an old $100 boat!

Their Trawler is transforming more and more each day, so be sure to like the video, comment below what you think of the refit so far and subscribe to their channel to follow along their journey of hard work and fun! Thanks for watching!
