Building Bulkheads with Acorn to Arabella

Steve and Alix are working hard on all of the parts required to go on the inside of Arabella while the boat is open and easily accessed. Building the bulkheads for Arabella is a job that requires some planning and the right materials – and Alix and Steve have been setting aside oak and cedar boards that will help them build out a bunch of new panels to use. Gluing up panels that are sandwiched together with thickened High Performance Epoxy, the bulkheads are hand picked oak boards that will be showpieces that will look stunning aside original Honduran Mahogany doors, drawers and other wooden pieces from Victoria.  Breaking apart Victoria’s interior will add some age and patina to the brighter interior being crafted by the team. Tune in and check out their progress!

Finding Victoria and deciding to repurpose parts of her into Arabella will add history and a great story to the boat that the Acorns are building with grandfather’s trees, a backyard poured lead keel and a team of friends and fans who helped pull her together. With determination and this incredible team, their plan to build Arabella in 2-10 years is looking more like a dream that will come to fruition sooner, setting sail within the next few years. They’re working on spars and engines and thinking ahead to systems and pulling it all toegther into their amazing hand built yacht.
